Just when you think that your child is starting to finally sleep through the night and you will start to get some sleep.....think again.
FINALLY Presley started to sleep through the night. I though I was going to be able to get a good nights rest for the first time in 6 months. All I am asking for is at least 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Is that too much to ask? I really don't think so. But Presley has been a trooper and we have had some talks at 3:30 in the morning and she has agreed to start sleeping until 6:30 am. Wonderful! We have done great since last Monday night. I will lay Presley down around 8:45 pm and she has been sleeping until 6:30 the next morning.
But then it happened, Reagan has started waking up at around 3:30 am and wanting to climb in bed with us. It might seem cute and innocent the first time or even the second time but we are going now on 4 nights in a row. What do you do? I am so tired I let her crawl in bed with us and then take her back to her bed about an hour later. I do not want to get into this habit. Any ideas?

I would make a palet for her on the floor next to your bed. Show her it is there before she goes to bed and tell her that if she wants to come into your room when she wakes up, that is fine, but she has to sleep in her special palet on the floor. That way you don't have to wake up and move her again. You can make it special by adding some of her favorite toys or her sleeping bag or something. It might not work, but you could give it a try.
Sleeping Through the Night: How Infants, Toddlers, and Their Parents Can Get a Good Nights Sleep, by Jodi Mindell.
I have to recommend this book to parents struggling with sleep issues! I have only used it for the young stages (6+ months) but there is also a section about toddlers and their sleep habits, which I am SURE I will use again when Aidan throws us a new curve ball!
I highly recommend it! Books can really be a great resource! And a rested family is a happy family!
My mom always said we couldn't sleep in her bed, but she would go back to our bed and lay there with us until we went back to sleep. We do the same with Landon when he is scared of thunderstorms or is sick, but other than that it is straight back to bed buddy! I would set the rule early or else you will be dealing with this for years, I've seen it over and over!
